What’s the most interesting, or mind boggling information you’ve heard about Cannabis’ popular active ingredient, cannabidiol, aka CBD?
CBD is a hot topic at the moment, so I imagine you’ve heard a few things about CBD recently. Likely, you’ve heard information about CBD that may even contradict each other. With all the hype and misinformation circulating about CBD’s abilities and benefits, it’s hard to know which information is accurate and which isn’t.
At JustCBD we pride ourselves on offering our clients the highest quality of CBD available on the market. As such, it’s important to us that our clients have the facts about CBD. So, we’ve rounded up 5 of the most common myths about CBD and have revealed their truths.
Read on for demystifying experience about 5 of the common myths surrounding CBD.
Myth 1: CBD is Intoxicating
Let’s start with what is possibly the most common myth about CBD:
Can you get high from CBD? And the answer is, no.
Surprised? Well, it’s true! You cannot get “high” from CBD. While CBD is an active ingredient of the Cannabis plant, and CBD’s effects offer many wellness benefits, not one of those benefits induces intoxication.
The component of cannabis that gave the ancient plant its notoriety is actually tetrahydrocannibiol, aka, THC. THC, upon entering the bloodstream, by smoking, vaping, or ingesting, does have psychoactive effects that many refer to as “feeling high,” or “baked.”
CBD is extracted from cannabis leaves and then isolated from all other components. The purified form of CBD is then used to create high-quality, THC free products, like those offered in our shop.
Myth 2: CBD is Addictive
The stereotypical cannabis user or, “stoner” is usually portrayed as someone who exhibits poor hygiene and suffers from an addiction to marijuana. This stereotype has led many people to feel wary or uneasy about trying CBD.
But, concerns about becoming addicted to CBD are not necessary. Research has shown that CBD is non-addictive. In fact, in some studies, CBD use has shown to reduce withdrawal symptoms from substances known to be addictive, like tobacco or alcohol.
Myth 3: CBD Cures….Everything!
You may have heard this popular myth from a variety of sources how CBD can cure practically everything that ails you! Sadly, (for us at Okanagon CBD!) that is categorically untrue. CBD should not be relied upon for health and wellness benefits beyond its proven capabilities.
Besides, what CBD has been well-documented to do is impressive on its own; there is no need for embellishment! Here is a list of CBD most well-documented benefits:
- Pain relief
- Alleviate anxiety and depression
- Relief from cancer treatment symptoms
- Anti-nausea
- Reduce inflammation
- Epilepsy treatment
These listed benefits are currently the most notable, but, as research into the benefits of CBD continues to grow, we expect the scientific community to discover many more benefits of using CBD.
Myth 4: CBD is Toxic to Pets
CBD and pet toxicity is one myth that isn’t completely unfounded, however, it’s not CBD causing the issue. While CBD has not shown to have toxic effects on pets, other ingredients commonly found in many CBD products are toxic; especially to dogs.
THC, even in very small quantities can be toxic to pets. Therefore, when choosing a CBD product for your pet it is crucial to select a high-quality product that guarantees their product is THC free.
But, how can you be certain a CBD product is a THC free, safe for pets product? Check with thesupplier for these two critical pieces of information.
- Certificate of Analysis. Quality CBD products that are THC free should be able to provide a certificate of analysis detailing the THC content of the product. Be sure to make sure the batch number of your product and the provided certificate of analysis match up!
- CBD oil was derived from Hemp. Hemp, a member of the cannabis family is a THC-low or THC-free strain of the plant. It is grown more commonly for use in the textile and manufacturing industry. CBD oil extracted from hemp, not marijuana, is a strong indication it is THC-free.
Myth 5: CBD is the Same as Medical Marijuana
Anyone who tries to convince you that CBD has the same physical effects as medicinal marijuana has likely been misinformed themselves. That information is not accurate. Let’s set that record straight.
Unlike what the myth says, CBD and marijuana are not the same. They do not have the same effects and they do not have the same chemical profile. CBD is an active component of the marijuana leaf, but it’s extracted from the leaf and purified before use. Marijuana use includes the whole leaf; marijuana consumption involves the ingestion of the leaf that’s left whole. As such, CBD and marijuana have very different effects on the body.
Marijuana’s active ingredients include CBD, THC, and all other active components within the leaf, like terpenes and cannabinoids. CBD, on the other hand, is just CBD; no more, no less.
